Q1. What is PlateAlert and how does it work?
PlateAlert is a rural security system using solar-powered 4G cameras to capture vehicle activity. It automatically sends image alerts to your phone via SMS or push notification when motion is detected.
Q2. Do I need mobile reception at the camera site?
Yes, the PlateAlert camera requires a reliable 4G signal for communication.
Q3. Can I view my camera images in the app?
Yes, each camera’s captured images are stored securely in the cloud. You can view recent snapshots in the app's Alerts section.
Installation & Setup
Q4. How do I install my PlateAlert camera?
After purchasing and receiving your camera, follow the Installation Guide in the Help section. Use the Snapshot Utility tool in the app to check positioning during setup.
Q5. How do I wake the camera remotely?
You can wake the camera by:

Dialing its SIM number (Call to Wake)

Using the “Push to Wake” button in the app (MQTT method)
Q6. The “Snapshot Now” button is disabled. Why?
The button is only active once the camera has successfully woken up and confirmed its status via MQTT.
Notifications & Alerts
Q7. Can I add multiple recipients for alerts?
Yes. Each user will have thier own login to the app and will recieve push notifications. SMS alerts are an option. Contactus for more information.
Q8. I didn’t receive a snapshot alert. What should I check?
Ensure:

The camera has mobile data coverage

Battery is not critically low

Notifications are enabled on your phone

Your subscription is active
Support & Troubleshooting
Q9. My image link says “Expired Token.” What should I do?
Snapshot links expire after a period of time. Open alerts promptly. If needed, request a fresh image using the Snapshot Utility.
Q10. How do I report an issue with my camera?
Use the “Contact Support” form in the Help section. Include your camera ID and select a topic like:
• Installation help
• Not receiving alerts
• Connectivity problems
• Subscription issues
• Snapshot problems
Account & Subscription
Q11. How do I manage my subscription?
Go to the Account section to view your subscription status, update billing details, or cancel via our secure payment provider (GoCardless).
Q12. What happens if my subscription expires?
The camera will stop sending alerts until your subscription is renewed.
